Welcome to MANIQUE — a space born from passion, purpose, and a vision to create something truly special.
A space built with heart.
I'm Maria, the founder of MANIQUE. My journey into beauty began back in 2019, while I was working in early years education. I'd always had a love for beauty, but it was during that time I realised I could combine both of my passions — nurturing people and creating art. What started as a set-up in my spare room quickly grew into a bigger dream: to build a space where people feel seen, supported, and inspired. A place where high standards meet heart.
The name MANIQUE comes from manicure and unique, and it defines the standard we hold ourselves to — not just in the services we offer, but in the way we make people feel. From perfectly executed treatments to the sense of calm and connection we create, everything at MANIQUE is intentional.
We believe in the power of detail — not just in our work, but in the full experience. The salon is designed to feel like a home away from home: warm, relaxed, and welcoming, while still delivering luxury-level results. Our goal is to offer a moment of pause — a space where you can disconnect, recharge, and leave feeling your absolute best.
Education, in two languages.
Education is now a growing part of MANIQUE. Our bilingual Academy brings together my experience in beauty and my background in education, with nail courses in English and Spanish. Our focus is on Gel + BIAB, E-file, Full Beginners, Pedicure and Toe Nail Reconstruction, with course dates released quarterly. Through theory, hands-on practice and supportive teaching, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, understand the reasons behind each technique and build their confidence step by step.
Big ideas from little creatives.
That love of learning also inspired MANIQUE Mini Academy: creative nail art masterclasses for children and teens aged 7–15. Little Nail Artists and Future Nail Techs give young creatives a chance to explore colour, try new designs and feel proud of what they make. With my BA in Childhood Practice and experience in early years education, this part of MANIQUE brings two things I care deeply about together — creativity and helping young people grow in confidence.
The people behind MANIQUE.
MANIQUE was built with love — and with a lot of support behind the scenes. My parents physically built the salon from scratch, helping turn a vision into reality, and I’ll always be grateful for that. My boyfriend supported me through every stage, keeping me grounded while cheering me on. I’ve also had the help of Nicole, our amazing interior designer, Alejandro, who guided our brand and marketing in the early days, and The King’s Trust, who believed in my business and supported its foundation. And of course, I’m incredibly proud of the team I’ve built — a group of talented, high-standard women who bring their passion and professionalism to the space every single day.
Giving back with The King’s Trust.
The King’s Trust supported me as I built MANIQUE, and I’m now proud to give back as a Young Ambassador. Sharing my journey — from finding my feet in Glasgow to building my own business — is a chance to show other young people what can be possible with encouragement and the right support. I hope my story helps someone else feel a little more confident about taking their own next step.

We’re honoured to have been recognised across the industry: as Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards 2025 Finalists for Best Salon, Best Salon Décor, with Gillian shortlisted for Best Massage Therapist, and Maria crowned SHABA Winner – Best Nail Artist 2025.
At the UK Hair & Beauty Awards 2025, we proudly reached the finals for Best New Salon, Best Salon Décor, and Maria for Best Nail Technician and Best Gel Nails — where she achieved National 2nd Place for Best Gel Nails 2025.
These achievements reflect not only our commitment to excellence, but also the incredible community that surrounds us. With our bilingual Academy, children’s masterclasses and growing team, we’re excited to keep creating a supportive, inspiring space for beauty and education in Glasgow — and beyond.
