What you'll actually learn

The course experience

Gel + BIAB

1 day · 7 hours
  • Nail prep, sanitation and structure assessment before any product touches the nail
  • Gel application and BIAB structure, building a strong, natural-looking apex
  • Manual soak-off removal — no machine — done safely and without damage
  • Troubleshooting: lifting, cracking and the early mistakes most techs make, and how to fix them
  • Infills and ongoing maintenance between full sets
  • Perfect finishing — shape, cuticle work and a flawless top coat every time
The foundation every other skill in the academy builds on.

E-file

1 day · 5 hours
  • Bit selection — which head to use, when, and why it matters
  • Safe speeds and pressure control so you're never taking off more than you mean to
  • Full and precision infills without disturbing the surrounding nail
  • Controlled product removal and when different removal methods are appropriate
  • How to avoid heat damage and overfiling, the two most common early mistakes
Confidence with a machine most techs are scared of at first.

Full Beginners

2 days · 6–7 hours per day
  • Day 1: full Gel + BIAB training — prep, application, structure, apex, manual removal
  • Day 2: full E-file training — safe speeds, infills, precision work, removal
  • How gel, BIAB and e-file skills work together in a client appointment
  • A complete client-ready workflow, from consultation to finished set
  • Business basics: pricing your first services, booking clients and staying compliant
Build a foundation you can develop through practice and assessment.

Gel Pedicure

1 day · 5 hours
  • Consultation and assessment, including contraindications to check for
  • Full protocol from soak to finish — filing, cuticle work, callus care
  • Hygiene and sterilisation standards that keep you and your clients safe
  • Product and polish application built to last between visits
  • Add-on upselling: how to introduce this service to your existing clients
The service every client eventually asks for — and a strong repeat-booking add-on.

Toe Nail Reconstruction

1 day · 5 hours
  • Consultation, treatment suitability and when to refer rather than treat
  • Building structure gradually and securely without causing discomfort
  • Shaping and finishing so the result looks and feels natural
  • Aftercare guidance to protect the reconstruction between visits
  • How to talk clients through the process with confidence and care
A specialist skill that sets you apart and brings in clients other techs turn away.

Full Pedi Course

2 days · 5 hours per day
  • Day 1: full Pedicure protocol — consultation, hygiene, filing, callus care, finish
  • Day 2: full Toe Nail Reconstruction — assessment, safe rebuild, shaping, aftercare
  • How to run both services as a joined-up client appointment
  • Product and hygiene standards across both specialisms
  • Positioning and upselling both services to your existing client base
Two complementary foot services, taught together.

Learning with Maria

🏆 2025 Scottish Winner — Best Nail Artist 🥈 2025 UK National Runner Up — Best Gel Nails

Maria Coronado

Founder, MANIQUE Beauty Salon & Academy

I moved to Scotland at 19, learned the language, and slowly found my way into the beauty industry. Nails started as something small on the side and grew into something I truly love — from working in a salon, to my spare room at home, to running my own salon today.

I created the MANIQUE Method to give you the training I wish I'd had at the beginning: clear, supportive, and delivered in the language you feel most confident in.

Before MANIQUE, I worked in early years education and completed my BA in Childhood Practice. That experience shapes how I teach: breaking things down clearly, giving you time to practise and making sure you feel comfortable asking questions.

In the salon, I care about thoughtful preparation, natural nail health and the small details that make a difference. In class, I want you to understand why you are doing each step, as well as how to do it. We can work in English or Spanish, with support that helps you build confidence at your own pace.

I’m also a Young Ambassador for The King’s Trust, sharing my journey and the encouragement that helped me build MANIQUE. I know how much it matters to have someone believe in you when you’re starting something new.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own kit?

No. Every course includes a kit to train with in class. Want your own kit for practice? Choose a take-home kit at booking. Prefer your own tools? We'll send you our fave shopping list of essentials to buy in your own time.

Do you offer 1:1 training?

Every course runs as a small group, capped at 4 students, so everyone gets proper hands-on time with Maria.

Can I take courses in Spanish?

Yes, every course is available bilingually. Let us know your preferred language when you book, or ask for a mix of both.

Do any courses have entry requirements?

Most courses are open to complete beginners. E-file requires an existing gel manicure qualification, and Toe Nail Reconstruction requires a Pedicure qualification — ours or equivalent elsewhere.

What are the completion and certification requirements?

Each course has its own completion criteria. Before you book, we’ll explain the theory, practical work and any case studies or assessments you need to complete, along with the certificate available for your chosen course.

You’ll receive guidance and feedback during training so you know what to practise and what evidence to submit, where required. If further practice or assessment is needed, we’ll explain your next steps.

Certification depends on meeting your course’s requirements, rather than attendance alone. Please ask us about the certification and accreditation details for the specific course you’re considering before enrolling.

How many students are in a class?

Each class is limited to a maximum of 4 students, so every learner gets proper hands-on time and close support.
